New Year’s Eve is right around the corner which means it’s just about time to pick out your best party outfit of the year, starting with your underwear.
Metallic waistbands were seen in multiple ranges this year from both popular underwear brands and those you’ve never heard of. Brands as varied as Calvin Klein Underwear and AussieBum, Clever and Croota released gold and silver metallic waistbands that, if worn, ensure a NYE you’ll never forget. At The Underwear Expert, we’re all about a party and since we always do it right, we can say for a fact that when you wear metallic, you have a damn good time.
To highlight the season’s best underwear capped with metallic waistbands, we took the liberty of painting our models in gold and silver (you’d have done the same, right?) and asked them to serve up their best Mr. Roboto for The Underwear Expert photographer Aydin Arjomand. papi Six Pack Offers Body-Defining Compression

Papi releases its first collection of compression shirts designed to give you full core support for a slimmer and toned appearance. Currently available, the Papi Six Pack range is made from a specially designed fabric that is ultra-soft, breathable and moisture absorbent to keep you cool and dry throughout the day.
These undergarments were designed to minimize the appearance of the belly and love handle areas, give your back support and firm the abdominal area. The Papi Six Pack collection, which consists of a tank top ($44) and V-neck T-shirt ($48), is made from 83% cotton and 17% spandex; with a four-way stretch, this fabric blend gives the needed strength to offer the proper amount of compression.
“The pattern is carefully engineered to insure it hugs the body specifically where it needs tuck and lift,” Lucio De Carvalho, vice president of design for Papi, told The Underwear Expert. “The special fabric and expert fit work to hide the unwanted fat areas and keeps the chest area firm while giving the back the support needed.”
Papi devised the compression shirts, available in S-XL and black and white, for consumers who are looking for a supportive men’s undergarment to give them a little more confidence. The Papi Six Pack range does exactly that by giving you a slimmer and more fit appearance.
The brand’s design team went through numerous trials and fittings until they found the perfect amount of spandex needed for the shirts. They ultimately utilized “a very soft comfortable cotton with a long filament that gives you an extremely soft quality,” said De Carvalho. “Cotton is a natural moisture absorbent fiber and is good to be worn during the summer or winter because it feels so cozy on the skin.”
Papi plans to upgrade the Six Pack collection with new features in the future.

7 Underwear Brands That Give Back

With the holidays upon us, our thoughts turn to giving, receiving, and giving back. Here at The Underwear Expert, there’s not much that makes us happier than when we see an underwear brand that does some good in the world besides making a great product. Whether they support charities at home or people abroad, several companies have made our “nice” list this season. We’ve compiled seven of our favorite underwear brands that support charities so that you can plan your purchases according to the causes that are most important to you. Change your underwear and change lives at the same time – that’s not a bad way to make a difference.

Papi is involved in various causes, especially HIV and AIDS awareness. The brand most recently held an event for MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation, which supports innovative projects in areas in need of funding creative leaders to help prevent the spread of HIV last October.
In 2009, Papi and HIVictorious partnered to create the “What If It Were You?” HIV / AIDS awareness campaign using posters created by high school students. These thought-provoking posters of encouragement will be on display at select Macy’s stores.
HIVictorious is a grass-roots, volunteer-driven, non-profit organization based in Madison, Wisconsin. Bob Bowers, the Founder and President, is a 26-year survivor of the disease. He lends a very powerful and frank voice in the fight against AIDS. Through his outreach, students readily connect with Bob and appreciate his honesty and willingness to empower others with knowledge and hope.

As you pack up your bags and head ho-ho-home for the holidays, be sure to grab one of the many styles of men’s red underwear that galavanted onto shelves this season. Brands have been releasing more and more variations of red this season making dressing for the occasion a walk in the snowy park.
Red is rarely included in men’s underwear brands basic collections, which more often than not include white, black and now blue. Red, however, is always a strong seller, which means red may be here to stay. You’ll see a lot of in next season, and if the trend is on point, for many seasons after.
For this season, however, look out for deep, rich reds like C-IN2′s Blood Red, or the daring red used by Emporio Armani. You’ll also see a more common, though no less sexy, cherry red from brands like Andrew Christian and MeUndies. From blood to cherry, these reds all pop. Wear them with your favorite holiday sweater, and you’ll be sure to make a hit at your family holiday celebration this year andwhen you meet up with your special holiday friend after family-time is over [which is never soon enough, right?]
