Papi debuts a new collection of vintage-inspired underwear that features interwoven yarns of mixed colors. Just in time for the upcoming spring season, the Papi Space Dye Hanging range, which consists of a Brazilian trunk ($24) and tank top ($30), will hit stores early March.
Heather grey served as the inspiration for the Space Dye Hanging collection, which comes in three bright shades of red, blue and purple. The brand, in turn, found a yarn that not only offers the same appearance as heather grey but also could be made with bright colors.
The new collection is made from a fabric blend of 95% cotton and 5% spandex. The fabric underwent a unique “space dying” technique that produces the collection’s muted shades with flecks of color, according to the brand. For the Space Dye Hanging collection, Papi wanted to offer consumers softly muted shades rather than the vibrant colors typically offered in other collections.
The Space Dye Hanging range’s combination of cotton and spandex provides the right amount of comfort and fit. What’s more, the addition of spandex to cotton ensures that the garment will retain its shape. Cotton has a tendency to wrinkle while spandex is commonly used in non-iron items like your underwear, according to the brand.
What also makes the Space Dye Hanging range a standout is the sexy contour pouch, which offers a flattering silhouette.

Mike from Portland, ME: I love underwear, but I don’t have the body of an underwear model. Are there any undershirts you would recommend that could help me look less doughy? Do compression undershirts help?
The Underwear Expert: Don’t worry about it, Mainer Mike. There are plenty of options for guys who just don’t have the metabolism of a 21 year old athlete. Let me guess: you have a little bit of a paunch and you wish everything was tighter around your waistline. If your undershirts are too big, they look like drapes hanging over your body. If your undershirts are too small, you have skin hanging out in an unattractive way. Almost everyone runs into this problem at some point and you’re ahead of the game by recognizing that compression undershirts can be the solution.
Let’s start with Papi Six Pack ($44-$48), which gives you body-defining compression without reducing your style. We talked to Lucio De Carvalho, the vice president of design for Papi, and he told us, “The pattern is carefully engineered to insure it hugs the body specifically where it needs tuck and lift … The special fabric and expert fit work to hide the unwanted fat areas and keeps the chest area firm while giving the back the support needed.”
That special fabric he’s talking about is 83% cotton and 17% spandex, giving stretch, comfort and lift. It’s a great way to keep your extra bits in check.

On the forefront, the always-popular Papi brand is announcing cutting edge underwear fabrics in their new collections. “Neoprene and velvet are very hot in men’s sportswear right now so we decided these fabric trends should carry to underwear as well,” states Lucio De Carvalho, vice president of design for Papi. Expect to see new micro-fiber filaments with lustrous finish, velvet cut outs, and a state-of-the-art nylon blend that looks and feels like leather among the fresh designs. In addition, the company will also be releasing Papi hosiery with athletic and fashion multi-performance styles in a colorful array of mercerized cotton, tencel, microfiber, and bamboo fabrics designed to support the male lifestyle as it transitions from work to play.
Contemporary brand, Perry Ellis, also continues to be a leader with the innovative fusion of a new hybrid slim fit underwear silhouette. This advancement has not been done before and was developed with the idea of merging the boxer and the boxer brief creating a final product of a more slenderizing boxer short. Perry Ellis hosiery and loungewear are additionally planned to introduce enchanting new color palettes such as geisha red, denim heather, amber glow, and cobalt. “The prints are original with fashionable dots, hounds tooth, and space dye designs completing the “Very Perry” brand spirit from head to toe,” states Robin Zelcer Alman, senior vice president of Isaco International.
“As the world continues to evolve, we are pleased to be at the forefront of fashion trends. Our brand portfolio’s are creating products with modern evolution and we are excited to share these concepts to enhance the life of todays man,” states Mr. Isaac Zelcer, CEO of Isaco International.
