papi Goes Meshing Around

Papi introduces a new collection of mesh underwear that consists of Brazilian trunks ($22), briefs ($20) and tank tops ($30). Hitting stores mid February, the Papi Meshing Around collection comes in bright colors such as lemon light, parrot green, intensity red and blue swept.
Mesh fabric presents a variety of sexy underwear styles and comes in different gauges and thicknesses to show off your curves while allowing the air to flow around your body. What makes the Papi Meshing Around collection so unique is the product’s “style, colors, fit and overall appeal of the garment,” Lucio De Carvalho, vice president of design for Papi, told the Underwear Expert. “This collection really enhances the body giving a super sexy athletic fit.”
The new Meshing Around range is an evolution of some of the brand’s previous collections, which included mesh inserts or an all-over mesh fabric. “The all-over mesh was more popular so we decided to improve the style and construction to come up with an even better, fully mesh underwear,” said De Carvalho.
The new mesh underwear collection is made from a fabric blend of 75% nylon and 25% spandex, which provides ideal comfort and fit. “It is breathable and super soft yet it has the right amount of spandex to hold you in place and give you freedom of movement,” said De Carvalho. “We are always releasing new fabrics, new styles and new collections. The look of this particular mesh fabric is super sexy, and we think mesh will continue to be popular.”
The Meshing Around collection offers a sporty aesthetic with contrast piping on the underwear’s leg openings and contour pouch while the tank top features contrast piping on the shoulder openings. “The mesh collection has a collegiate feel to it like a uniform or mesh jersey,” said De Carvalho. “It’s for the guy who is sexy and athletic.”
The brand came up with the new fabric blend while exploring new innovations for the underwear market. “Nylon is a very fine yarn,” said De Carvalho. “Our mesh underwear has the perfect percentage of spandex combined with the nylon to keep it soft while giving the right amount of stretch your body naturally needs.”
The Papi Meshing Around collection is available in S-XL.

Papi Ibiza Collection Gets Updated with Purple, Fuchsia

Papi updates its Ibiza collection of 2-pack Brazilian trunks ($28) with two new bright colors. Hitting stores mid February, the Papi Ibiza range will include purple and fuchsia. The Ibiza 2-pack range includes one trunk with a solid black print and colorful waistband and another trunk with a brilliant plaid print and solid black waistband.
“Purple and fuchsia are very hot colors for men’s sportswear right now so we decided this trend should carry to underwear as well,” said Lucio De Carvalho, vice president of design for Papi. “If a man is hesitant about wearing shirts or pants that are too colorful, he can still take a little risk by trying colorful underwear.”
The Ibiza series is part of the brand’s Cool 2 collection, which is offered as a set of two separate designs and is made from a soft microfiber fabric blend that contours to the body. The Ibiza collection was initially released four years ago and due to popular demand, it became a permanent collection.
“We choose Ibiza as a theme because it is a trendy location full of colors and rhythm where people go to have a good time,” said De Carvalho. “Our consumers are all about having fun so we felt it was a great inspiration to connect with the brand. The inspiration of the new colors was inspired by the nightlife in Ibiza, which is known for its florescent bright colors.”
Similar to other collections offered as part of the Cool 2 line, the Ibiza series is made from 88% polyester and 12% spandex. The fabric blend is capable of wicking away moisture and keeping you cool, dry and fresh. The trunks also feature a contour pouch with an anatomical fit that supports and lifts. Plus, the fabric is resistant to shrinking and fading.
“The polyester and spandex blend is soft and easy to care for,” said De Carvalho. “It really feels great on the body and makes you feel as if you are almost wearing a second skin.”
The Ibiza 2 collection is also available in periwinkle blue, lawn green and tropicana yellow and comes in S-XL.

Papi updates its 2-Pack Brazilian trunks with a new geometric print and colors for the upcoming season. Hitting stores mid February, the Papi Cool 2 range ($28) will soon feature an ombre dot pattern, which showcases a faded geometric print, and three new colors: lawn green, fuchsia and purple. The 2-pack consists of one solid trunk and one trunk with the seasonal ombre print.
“We wanted to give admirers of Papi something fresh, hip and new for spring,” said Lucio De Carvalho, vice president of design for Papi. “The ombre dot pattern portrays an illusion of faded dots, which appears somewhat fuzzy. We always try new print methods that offer something to the imagination.”
The Papi Cool 2 collection is made from a soft microfiber blend of 88% polyester and 12% spandex. The fabric blend features moisture wicking and quick-dry properties to keep you cool, dry and fresh throughout the day. The trunks also offer a soft stretch and body contouring fit and are resistant to shrinking and fading.
“The super-soft microfiber has a very fine filament in the fabric that gives a lustrous finish,” said De Carvalho. “It is also very light weight and feels as if there’s nothing on the skin so the overall comfort of the garment is what makes it fly off the shelves. People love it!”
The Papi Cool 2 collection was first introduced when the brand launched in 1995. The company’s goal was to present an affordable series of 2-packs with an array of seasonal designs and a fabric that offers a variety of benefits. Since then, Papi has used the same fabric blend and the collection has become one of its top sellers. “We felt that by developing a new fabric guys would feel comfortable in, then we would make them feel sexy too,” said De Carvalho.
The Papi Cool 2 series is available in S-XL.
